Ms. Richmond has been involved in the dance community as an instructor and studio owner for 43 years. She has directed and produced full length ballet for Dance Kids and musical theatre productions for MPC and Forest Theatre. She believes the skills developed through the arts are vital to all student's education and essential in development of life-long skills such as analytical thinking, clarity in written and spoken expression, collaboration, and creativity.

Alan has a history of service to community, state and nation. He is a highly decorated Marine Corp. combat veteran, served as Senior Moderator for the Clinton White House Conference on Business, Vice President of Communications and Marketing for NBC Universal at Yosemite National Park, award winning documentary producer "Inside Henan China", Director of Marketing, Communications and Community Relations for Naval Postgraduate School, two-term Chairman of the Board of the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and former Executive Director of Dance Kids of Monterey County. His thirty year career as a television anchor and talk show host was instrumental in showcasing the importance of arts education for all children of the Monterey Peninsula.

Chairman. COO of Lewis Builders and Chairman of the Board of Dance Kids of Monterey County, Scott is a Monterey based entrepreneur and business owner with a background in corporate business development . While in high school, Scott founded a business growing the client base to over 500 residential and commercial contracts in less than three years. Scott has witnessed the benefits the arts have given his daughter and family and strives to expose more children to the world of the performing arts.
Alicia Stirling Julian
Secretary of the Board
For a woman whose achievements include photographer extraordinaire and skin care advocate, it's difficult to imagine Alicia and her father building dragsters in Prunedale, CA. She stopped welding and racing at 28 to focus on family. Today, mother and wife, Alicia is passionate involved in the arts and her daughter's pre professional career. Alicia continues to attend the racetrack and supports woman racers.
Artistic Director: Philip was born in Westow, England and began his study of Classical Ballet with his mother at the age of five. After further training at The Vaganova Academy in St. Petersburg he joined The Legat School before accepting a full scholarship to study at The Harid Conservatory in Florida. In 1991, Philip returned to England and was offered a place at The Royal Ballet School in London. He became the School’s Head Student in 1994 and graduated with the School’s Teachers’ Training Course Diploma in 1995. In 2002, Philip was appointed to the position of Assistant Professor in the College of Theatre and Dance at the University of Florida, where he taught Classical Ballet and lectured in Dance History.
Philip was appointed to the Board of Vocational Examiners of the Royal Academy of Dance in 2005; a position that ultimately took him to five of the world’s six continents. Philip was elected to the Board of Trustees of the Royal Academy of Dance and has continued to work as a Freelance Teacher, mentoring students and teachers in both the private and vocational education sectors.
Fund Raising and Development: Chief Commercial Officer, Bruviti, Predictive Analytics joined the Dance Kids Board in January 2019. He was the VP Business Development at Kenati Technologies and served in senior executive roles at NRG Energy, Smart Energy Instruments and Sun Microsystems. He is a former Mayor of Los Altos Hills, CA, former member of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, director of a charitable institution and a member of numerous boards of directors.
Marketing and Communications: Maddox Haberdasher is an innovative fashion stylist and luxury image consultant. Established in 2009, MADDOX specializes in assisting his clients in developing a personal style that will remain timeless and appear effortless.Maddox most recently added to his resume the position of Editorial Fashion Stylist for 65 Degree Magazine. His portfolio includes multiple editorials, runway shows, celebrity styling, wardrobe analysis and personal consulting.
Finance: Naval Postgraduate Alumni-Matt Kremer is the Director of Operations for an Environmental Service Corporation specializing in recycling services. He was member of the team of financial experts at the Monterey Hospitality Benefits Group and joined the DKMC board of directors and the financial committee in 2017.
Outreach & Programs: Nicole works at the Office of National Marine Sanctuaries, an office within the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (or more commonly known as NOAA), for the last 17 years. She has also worked in law enforcement. Nicole brings professional and structured experience to Dance Kids along with creativity, excellent communication and outreach skills and the focus to manage the vision of Dance Kids of Monterey.
Fundraising and Development: Ms. Witten serves as the Managing Partner of Hudson Martin Ferrante Street Witten & DeMaria PC. She has been practicing law since 1998 and is licensed in both Pennsylvania and California.Ms. Witten has been voted by The Monterey County Weekly's readers to be the Best Attorney in Monterey County for six consecutive years. She has also been named as one of the 25 most influential people in Monterey County.
Programming: Berniz is celebrating two years on the DK board with outstanding leadership in programming productions in South County. She is the Customer Relations Manager at Western Stage, Hartnell College in Salinas. Trained in ballet, Berniz was artist in residence for five years in Sacramento and spent seven years as Community Engagement Coordinator for Arts Council for Monterey County.
Alisal Union School District, Director of Research, Accountability and Enrollment, Dr. Esteban Hernandez, has been a DKMC board member since 2015 and is passionately involved in children's education. His involvement in the cross cultural board, emphasizes the diversity and cultural equity of DKMC programming.
Catherine Fanoe-Catherine has been the email coordinator for DKMC for four years. In that capacity, she talked to many parents about scheduling, costumes and general production questions. Catherine's participation 'behind the scenes' of Nutcracker has given her insight regarding important issues for parents and young people in DKMC's programming. She enjoys the positive energy and team approach, helping to find innovative ways to introduce Dance Kids to the community and is steadfast in her belief in the importance of arts education. Catherine holds a BA in Social Work and has a rich history in the community as a volunteer.
Student Board Member
Fiona Fanoe is a ninth grader at Ocean Grove Charter School and a dancer at Carmel Academy of performing arts. She first joined Dance Kids of Monterey County in 2016 to perform in their Nutcracker. She has since been involved in Dance Kids, participating in Nutcracker and other outreach performances. Fiona’s interests include dancing and going to the beach. She decided to join the board because she loves what Dance Kids does for the youth in Monterey County and wants to help their mission of positively influencing children's lives through the performing arts.
Student Board Member
Madison Hart is a fifteen year old student at Carmel High School. She is a dancer at Carmel Academy of Performing Arts and dances with Dance Kids of Monterey County in their annual nutcracker as well as participates in many of their outreach programs. Madison’s interests include dancing, French, writing, and science. In her spare time, she loves to travel, spend time with family and friends, and go to the beach. She has always loved the arts and began singing, dancing, and acting at a young age with Pacific Repertory Theatre and The Forest Theatre Guild. She is driven to support the arts and greatly admires those who do so. Family is extremely important to her and the family atmosphere at Dance Kids is really what interested her in student board membership. She is excited to be one of the student board members and further Dance Kids’ mission.
Sue Cricelli-Sue has been a valued member of the Dance Kids family for over 17 years. She became involved after her daughter's first Nutcracker in 2003. She was honored by Dance Kids as Volunteer of the Year in 2013 at National Philanthropy Day. Since 1992, Sue has been a registered nurse at Salinas Valley Medical Center with a specialty in Progressive Care. Since her daughter entered University, she loves spending time with her dogs-Riley and Romeo and volunteering with her church.
