Happily,
2006 ended with four sold-out performances of “Nutcracker,” our traditional
Holiday presentation in its 14th year. Special thanks to all of our fabulous
volunteers, parents, crew and, of course, our very talented dancers who continue
to raise the barre time after time! We’ll be adding a fifth performance of
“Nutcracker” this December to accommodate our audience demand.
Spring is here and so is our upcoming offering of the full-length ballet, “Swan
Lake,” Directed by Tia Brown. Performances take place Thursday, March 22nd
through Sunday, March 25th on the Morgan Stock Stage at Monterey Peninsula
College; we’ve added an opening night Preview Performance with all tickets that
evening priced at $12.00. The Gala is Friday, March 23rd at 5pm with a 7pm
curtain, a Matinee at 2pm on Saturday and 7pm evening performance, concluding
with a Sunday 2pm Matinee on the 25th.
It’s truly a magnificent ballet that’s sure to please audience members of all
ages- get your tickets early at www.ticketguys.com or by calling the MPC Box
Office at 646-4213 Wednesday through Sunday 3-7pm.
This October we return to the People’s Republic of China with performances in
Shanghai, Beijing, Xian and Zhengzhou (Henan Province) You’ll be hearing more
about the trip as the date gets closer, but excitement and anticipation are in
the air, as will be fundraising efforts we’ll need your support on.
2007 looks to be another exciting chapter in the history of Dance Kids of
Monterey County as we begin our 15th Season! Thanks for being part of our story;
I’ll see you at Swan Lake on March 22nd.
Best regards,
Alan
Dear
Dance Kids Families,
Spring is always a special time of the year. We have produced a tremendous
Nutcracker the previous December, and 2006 Nutcracker was no exception. It was a
visual treat and an artistic success. Kudos to Tia Brown and the entire
production crew of Nutcracker. It has been said so very many times, but bears
repeating, the show could not have been such a success without so many, many
volunteer hours as well as production staff expertise! I am always amazed at the
quality and how each year, the barre is raised (pardon the pun).
Swan Lake promises to be a tour d’force. The dancers are in great shape and are
giving their all day after day in pursuit of the pure beauty of the ballet. No
where on the Monterey Peninsula can you see this type of quality year after
year. Spread the word and help us have all sold our performances of Swan Lake,
as we did for Nutcracker 2006.
Plans are already on the books for surprises for Nutcracker and the Spring 2008
ballet. All of the dreams are based in reality and funding is always a major
issue for the Board of Directors as well as the artistic staff and the Executive
Director. Watch for many new ideas and plans coming up in the near future. You
might even hear about them on opening night of Swan Lake!
I’ll see you at the ballet!
Love,
Carol
