Upcoming Fundraising Opportunities
Now through June 30th we are participating in Smiles for Life, an annual event designed to raise money for children’s charities.
With Smiles for Life we offer professional smile whitening at 50% off. All the money we raise goes to benefit children. Half of our Smiles for Life earnings go to support national children’s charities. The rest stays right here and will benefit Dance Kids of Monterey County.
State funding for Dance Kids was recently eliminated, due to cuts in the state budget. Dance Kids needs our support now more than ever! Dr. Kern will add 10% of her own money to our Smiles for Life donation. We are also accepting contributions at our front desk from any members of the community who want to support Dance Kids.

2% Tuesday's For the Month of November
Benefit Program
Pilgrim's Way Community Bookstore & Secret Garden is pleased to announce the introduction of "2% Tuesday". This program encourages the community to support local schools and non-profit organizations through their purchases. Every month a new organization is chosen to receive a donation amounting to 2% of all revenue generated on Tuesdays.

EXCITING OPPORTUNITY! There will also be a $1,000 prize donation given to the non-profit agency that generates the most donors from young people 35 years old and younger. The Board of Directors hopes that each young dancer in Nutcracker will go to the website-with parents leading the way-and donate $1 to Dance Kids! We also hope that Nutcracker alumni and other supporters will choose to give $1 for the cause! We CAN win the $1,000 prize donation for the non-profit agency having the most donors from young people 35 years old and younger!

Local Dentist Whitens Teeth, Contributes to Childrens' Charities
(Monterey, Ca) DR. JEANETTE KERN, DDS is helping children in need-one smile at a time. This spring and summer, as part of the Crown Council’s Smiles for Life campaign, DR. KERN offered teeth whitening services at a significantly reduced price, and donated 100 percent of the proceeds to help children facing serious health and educational problems.
During the four-month campaign, Dr. KERN raised $7,550.00. Half of the funds raised were contributed to DANCE KIDS OF MONTEREY COUNTY for use right here in our community. The other half of the funds were contributed to the Garth Brooks’ Teammates For Kids Foundation for use in health, education and inner city programs that benefit children.
"We had a great campaign this year and would like to thank everyone in the community who came out and helped to make it a success by purchasing whitening services during our campaign," explains Dr. KERN, a Crown Council dentist located in MONTEREY, CA. "It has been great seeing the beautiful smiles of our patients after performing whitening services-but it is even better to see the smiles on the faces of the children our contributions are helping to support."
The Smiles for Life Foundation is the children’s charity organization of the Crown Council, an organization of leading-edge dentists throughout North America. Each year over a four-month period, participating Crown Council dentists offer professional teeth whitening services at a considerably reduced price and donate ALL of the proceeds to children’s charities. The Crown Council’s Smiles for Life Foundation has raised more than $23 million since 1998, benefiting over 500 children’s charities across North America.
"Smiles for Life is a win-win situation," explains Greg Anderson, director of the Crown Council and one of the founders of the Smiles for Life campaign. "Patients get a brighter smile, our member dentists get the satisfaction of contributing to their community, and best of all, children who really need our help get a reason to smile."
